Mom Songs

There are many days when I wonder exactly what the heck I’m doing raising these two beautiful children. At the MOPS convention a few weeks ago, Julie Barnhill said it best when she said, “God didn’t give you your children so you can make them more like Jesus. He gave them to you to make you more like Jesus.” Ain’t that the truth?

There have been times when I have questioned my skills as a parent and wondered if someone else could do a better job at this than me. Truthfully, that sad thought has come up a lot in the past (especially once Bug hit the terrible twos). But, at the MOPS convention (see, I told you I’d let you in on things when the time was right), I learned so much about how absolutely irreplaceable I am as a mother to my children. One of the ways this was shown to me was through song. So, if you ever feel like someone else can raise your kids better than you, or that you’re just not cut out for this mom stuff, listen to these songs and know that you are amazing.

In My Arms by Plumb - This song is all about loving your children through thick and thin. “You will be safe in my arms,” is the theme throughout this powerful ballad.

Me by Plumb - Tells you that all your kids need… is you.

I Can’t Do This by Plumb - Simple lyrics with a powerful message. We really can’t do this alone.

Those are pretty heavy duty songs, here’s one that’s a little more lighthearted, but will make you feel important none-the-less!

Mom Song by Go Fish - “If you work all day but you never get paid… you’re a mom.”

I hope you enjoy these tunes. I had the immense fortune of seeing these amazing artists (and a few others) live at the MOPS convention, and they truly helped me appreciate my role as a mom. I hope these songs inspire you too!
