MOPS Convention 2008
Wow, is all I can say about the last 4 days. I was immensely privileged to be given the opportunity to attend the MOPS Convention in Grapevine, Texas. I went to the convention expecting a little break from the kids and to learn a little about how to run the childcare aspect of my MOPS group. I got so much more.
I left convention inspired, mentally and emotionally exhausted, and feeling closer to my dream of becoming a writer than I ever have before.
I thought that my trip to this convention would result in lots of sleeping in, but once I was there I realized that if I left Texas well-rested, I would not have taken advantage of all of the opportunities that were there for me to discover. From networking with moms from all over the US while standing in the enormous coffee line, to meeting Elisa Morgan, the incredible woman who has been the president and CEO of MOPS since 1989, and even getting to “high-five” Jamie from Go Fish (a really talented group of dudes, you’ll surely enjoy), there was something to do every second I was there.
My thoughts and emotions have been rocked by this convention and I have learned something amazing about myself. I will continue to elaborate on this when the time and topic is right.
For now, after all that not-sleeping and getting the most from my experience, I am exhausted beyond measure and need to crash.
‘Night!
If you have children and don’t know what MOPS is, I encourage you to check it out here: www.mops.org and find a meeting in your area. At MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) you will find a welcoming, wonderful group of women who will provide on-site babysitting for your children while you get the chance to sit back, eat breakfast, and enjoy being with other moms. It may not sound like much, but let me tell you, it is nothing short of wonderful.
